Four Iranian Brothers Reject U.S. Release
Sunday February 06, 2005 2:39pm

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Four Iranian brothers who have been detained for more than three years have rejected the federal government's release terms, calling some of the conditions unjust and unconstitutional.

The Mirmehdi brothers - Mohammed, Mostafa, Mohsen and Mojtaba - have been in custody since October 2001.

They were charged with lying on applications for political asylum after an earlier FBI (website) investigation of a Los Angeles-based cell of Moujahedeen Khalq, or MEK, which opposes Iran's regime. An immigration appeals board has ruled that the brothers did not have ties to terrorism, but upheld their deportations.
