North Korea protests depiction of Kim Jong Il in U.S. film 'Team America: World Police'

PRAGUE, Czech Republic (AP) - North Korea's embassy in Prague has demanded that the film "Team America: World Police'' be banned in the Czech Republic, saying the movie harms their country's reputation, a report said Saturday.

snip

"It harms the image of our country,'' the newspaper quoted a North Korean diplomat as saying. "Such behavior is not part of our country's political culture. Therefore, we want the film to be banned.''

snip

"We told them it's an unrealistic wish,'' ministry spokesman Vit Kolar was quoted as saying. "Obviously, it's absurd to demand that in a democratic country.''

Officials from the Foreign Ministry and the North Korean Embassy could not be reached for comment Saturday.-AP

1. Hey, Kim Jong-Il -- size DOES matter, short stuff!
F$#k yeah! Sure, Trey and Matt bashed a few liberals, but they weren't too kind to the right, either.

And as for hurting the sensitivities of Dear Leader and his cult of personality -- well, they whine like FReepers when you tell the truth about 'em. F#@k yeah!

14. (no subject)
all they had to say about the liberals was that michael moore was fat-it's true-not that it really matters.

what did they have to say about the republicans? that they can't even aim and keep destroying via their stupidity thousands of lives and precious monuments. Basically that they're dumb ole rednecks with machine guns-that's a lot worse.

16. Actually, they made Michael Moore to be a fat suicide bomber.
Still, it's the South Park guys.

2. Geez... the film's only been out for almost a year...
...it took NK that long to discover it?:eyes:

If I were Kim Jong Il, I'd be flattered by the puppet - it's not nearly as creepy-looking as the real Kim...

4. Strange...
I would assume old nutty Kim loves the idea of himself in a film. And since he's pretty much the most sympathetic character in the film, and gets a great, melodic song to sing, this sounds like people protesting because they think they should. I bet he's wandering around in his big, empty castle now, singing softly to himself. And planning the deaths of thousands of innocent people because he's not taken as seriously by the Bush administration (one of the film's smarter points).

9. Hey Kim Jong Il, F**k you if you can't take a JOKE.
And that's what this is, a joke. Get used to it. Heads of states are up to be cast as jokes in countries that are free. The people of those countries may not agree with those jokes, but this is what happens in democratic countries. My advise is to grit your teeth and bear it.

15. I think Saddam did something similar with the South Park movie...
but North Korea's reaction is way funnier. Discussing censorship won't do good things for your reputation either, guys. :D
