1. It's not THAT bad here!
All of the schools have been cancelled and the metro services are talking about shutting down in the afternoon. However, the storm is not even supposed to be here until about 5 or so tomorrow afternoon. Better safe than sorry, I guess, but * doesn't need any more days off!

4. Relax...
Pat Robertson's been praying that Isabel will turn away. Hey, Moses did stuff like this and he didn't even own a diamond mine. I'm sure god is right on it. Oh ye of little faith.

6. The cowards.
I bet the Republicans are the first ones out of town. These guys only believe in putting others in danger.

7. Yippee!
No classes!

It was pretty funny, actually, because the Washington Post announced that school was closed before our school announced it.

9. we're already having a party !!!!
All schools in DC and MD, VA suburbs will be closed too. Fed gov't, Pentagon, the whole shebang. It's hard to believe, since it's still a beautiful, warm late summer evening here. Got us some great parties going on tonight....

10. that's just weird
maybe because I've never been in a hurricane, but ....

Doesn't our government have, oh .... say a contingency plan for when times get a little tough? Like, oh, say if we're at war or something? Don't they have cozy little bunkers they can go hang out in?

They're running like a bunch of pansies from a hurricane?????

I think they're running away from their own storm that they've created.

12. If The Eye Of The Hurricane Is 30 Miles Across
The storm is pretty durn big. Even after landfall, it will take a while to degrade into a tropical storm. 6 to 10 inches of rain, 60 to 90 mile-an-hour winds isn't kind to any city anywhere.

13. I don't mean to diminish the danger of Isabel ...
but while I was reading this story, I couldn't help thinking:

When Hitler invaded England, Queen (Mother) Elizabeth stayed and endured the blitz when she could have gone to Canada.

When Isabel "invaded" DC, the pResident and the Congress ran.

Maybe on their way back to DC they can make a stop at Oz so the wizard can give them some courage.
