State GOP discusses 2006 strategy
LAKE BUENA VISTA - Gov. Jeb Bush told Republicans on Saturday that Iraq might not be having elections today if thousands of Floridians had not volunteered to help his brother keep the White House.

Bush spoke at the first State Executive Committee since the Nov. 2 elections, when President Bush won Florida's 27 electoral votes and Sen. Mel Martinez, R-Orlando, won the Senate seat of Democrat Bob Graham, who retired.

Several Republican leaders at the three-hour pep rally warned against complacency but also said Social Security change should appeal to young voters. Some also said the GOP should aim for 20 to 25 percent of the black vote in 2006.

"This weekend, I think history will show, is one of the most historic weekends. Tomorrow (Sunday) will be an incredible day for the history of freedom and democracy around the world," Bush said, referring to the Iraqi elections.

1. "Iraq might not be having elections today "
and this might not have happened either. Wonder how this child feels about being "liberated"...assuming the child is still alive.
