HOUSE WATCH-9/17/2003 (#1)

The House convenes at 10:00 AM.

The House will consider the following measures under suspension of the rules:

H.R. 659, the Hospital Mortgage Insurance Act of 2003

H.R. 292, the Korean War Veterans Recognition Act of 2003

H.R. 2152, to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to extend for an additional 5 years the special immigrant religious worker program

H.R. 49, the Internet Tax and Nondiscrimination Act

The House will then consider H.R. 7, the Charitable Contributions bill, under a MODIFIED CLOSED rule. One hour of general debate is in order (managers: Thomas/Rangel). The following amendment is also in order:

Cardin Substitute Amendment, to increase the Social Security Block Grant funding and block tax shelters (1 hour of debate).

The House will then consider the following motions:

Ryan (OH) Motion to Instruct Conferees on H.R. 1308, the Child Tax Credit bill.

Rodriguez Motion to Instruct Conferees on H.R. 1588, the FY 2004 Defense Authorization bill.

Stenholm Motion to Instruct Conferees on H.R. 1, the Medicare bill.
