Six months after a runway at the Las Cruces airport was closed due to damage incurred during an August campaign stop by President George W. Bush, it’s still unknown who is going to pick up the tab for repairs.
The city filed a $2.1 million claim in November with the U.S. Air Force for damage to Runway 22.

Separate studies by two engineering firms contracted by the city found the half-mile-long, two-inch deep ruts in the runway were caused by a C-17 cargo plane, loaded with vehicles and equipment, that was traveling with Bush....

Yet Washington, D.C., which voted 89% for Kerry, had to pay for the Emperor's security. Surely all those inauguration donors could have ponied up the money for the security. How is that fair?
