Would-be suicide bomber angry at those who sent him

By Steven Komarow and Sabah al-Anbaki, USA TODAY

BAGHDAD — His head and hands were wrapped in bandages and his uncovered face looked like bubbled tar.

...

"They asked me to take the truck near a concrete block barrier before turning to the right and leaving it there. There, somebody will pick up the truck from you," they told him. "But they blew me up in the truck," he says.

When the gas truck ignited into a fireball near the Jordanian Embassy, nine people were killed, including a family of seven whose house collapsed on them. The explosion burned Shaya on his face and hands but he was thrown from the cab and survived.

...

"I want the Iraqi people to live in peace," he says, and he can no longer support Osama bin Laden because "he is killing Muslims."

As for the Zarqawi network that sent him on the mission that left him permanently disfigured and in prison, he says, "I want revenge for what they have done to me."

1. What a screwed up thought process
He wants to die as a suicide truck driver, but now he wants revenge because his group blew him up in a truck which he didn't think was his suicide truck.

And these same young people are going to Chechnya, Kashmir, Chad, Sudan, and who knows where else.

3. These young people are just so screwed up
No jobs, no hope, no autonomy, no future. Gangbangers on steroids, who just don't give a shit anymore. They don't trust us, with reason, they don't trust any government they have lived under, they know their nation has assets, that some people live large, but they see absolutely nothing positive ahead for them. So they get pissed, they listen to people who make them feel like they are a big cheese in a special club, and there ya have it. They appeal to their desire to BE SOMEBODY, even if they have to die to do it.

It's a recipe for disaster.

2. A pawn is a pawn, is a pawn.
A bin Laden pawn becomes sob-story propaganda pawn.

And they printed his name!
Wonder how his family feels about that ...

4. I wonder how many young men
have taken orders, or possibly money, to drive a truck or car somewhere and then have unwittingly blown up in it?
Maybe some of them don't know they are suicide bombers until the bomb goes off.... like this young (and I agree, deluded) man.
Fortunately he will most likely survive, and have a chance to change his life toward a good purpose (after he gets out of Gitmo?)
I wonder what will become of him in the end?

5. I wonder if any of this is true.
Lots of stories today about foiling the "insurgents", looks like massive psyops to me.
