FCC clears 'Simpsons,' 'Friends' of indecency raps
WASHINGTON — Federal regulators on Monday denied 36 complaints of broadcast indecency in connection with popular TV shows like “Friends,” “The Simpsons,” and “Gilmore Girls.”

The complaints to the Federal Communications Commission were all filed by the Parents Television Council, a conservative watchdog group which frequently complains about sex and violence on television.

“None of the segments were patently offensive under contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium, and thus not indecent,” the agency said in a statement.

Three members of the five-member FCC approved the entire order: Chairman Michael Powell and Kathleen Abernathy, both Republicans; and Democrat Jonathan Adelstein. The two other commissioners, Democrat Michael Copps and Republican Kevin Martin, dissented on parts of the order.

The Parents Television Council alleged that the programs, which aired between Oct. 29, 2001, and Feb. 11, 2004, contained sexually explicit segments or used indecent or profane language that violated indecency standards.

3. 'What would Jesus glue' is offensive?
Some people need a BIG hit off the pipe and mellow out...

Whats offensive is the Paris Hilton TV show they are promoing on Fox. Apparently the Terrible Twosome are going to be 'Interns' this season and one scene shows them at a mortuary dropping an urn of ashes and shoveling dirt at a grave site. This is quality TV?????? What a disgrace!

4. Their site is a real hoot
when you check out their best and worst shows and why each of them fit the category.

There are only about 1500 of those loons in that organization, although some people who haven't twigged to what they're really all about might get their newsletter/email.

Since 98% of the decency complaints the FCC gets are from these old maids in pants, I'd strongly suspect most of them now go into a big folder labeled "wacko" to await somebody's incredible boredom with life to bother checking out.

8. they need help
It seems to me the shows that they love are the ones where the wife stays home and looks after the kids and the ones where the wife works are the bad shows.

They have a webpage where you can email yuor comments to them, I wouldnt bother, they are living in the 1950s.

6. This Headline isn't a spoof?
So instead of protecting our public airwaves from being monopolized by a few broadcasters, the FCC was snooping around Stars Hollow hassling Miss Patty?

9. yes the brady bunch is bad
I use to work with a lady who thought the brady bunch was the sickest show ever, she thought it was the one show that started immoral behaviour, she thought the kids would of been lead to temptation.

I also knew someone who wouldnt allow his kids to watch "Webster" because family shows are the worse because according to him "there would be always be a sex education episode" He let his kids watch the dukes of hazzard though.
