Iraq mosque, wedding attacked

IRAQ:Car bombs kill 21, and insurgents publicly behead an Iraqi soldier as a warning to others.

KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Fourteen people were killed when a car bomb exploded Friday outside a Shiite Muslim mosque in Baghdad, as worshippers handed gifts to children in celebration of a Muslim holiday that teaches sacrifice.

Another 40 were injured, including seven children.

Later, at least seven people were killed and 16 injured when an ambulance exploded at a wedding party of the Shiite Buamer tribe in a village south of Baghdad near Yusufiyah. Among those reported hurt were the bride and groom. The tribe has had tense relations with Sunni Muslim clans in the area, and several tribe members have been kidnapped or killed by Sunni insurgents.
