Dayton to vote against Rice for Secretary of State
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 10:28 PM by orleans
Mark Dayton, a democratic senator from Minn. said he will be voting against condi because she "mislead" the senate on iraq.

so i guess three senators won't be voting for her confirmation:

1. I'll be watching Levin
He's got a real dislike for her. You should see him in person when he talks about her. Really something.

5. Orleans, our senator, Obama voted for Condosleeza's
confirmation in the committee. I wish he didn't, but I'm not surprised. Because he's a freshman senator I'm not going to bash him. However, I'm still going to email him urging him to vote against it goes to the full senate.

9. Don't feel bad...he's a new "junior Senator." I can forgive him more than
Biden who had big problems with her...but caved and voted for her.

Obama would have been hounded...they were already taken snipes at him to keep him in line (small snipes) no one might have caught if you hadn't listened to alot of C-Span Senate...but they were there.

He can't barge into the Ole Boys club and immediately vote No...He was good to speak up as well as he did.

Just passing that along...so you won't be discourage..

16. I think "down the road" he will be really good. Let's focus on the ones
who've been there for our wrath and recriminations. Obama so far is one of the best I've seen in a long time...and some of our younger DU'ers might not realize how much he "stuck his neck out" for us.

But...he did. Give him time..before you "pile on." As I said in my earlier post...the ones whove been there deserve our scorn more than "Newbie Obama"...

Plenty of time for Obama...let's clean up the mess that's been made before him.

7. She is abhorred by any thinking person
who can see what she has done to our Country.

Glad to hear Senator Levin has no problem saying what he feels.

2. This is muy importante because
it's brings up the whole LIES about Iraq and the misbegotten war!

"WASHINGTON - Sen. Mark Dayton said Wednesday he will vote against Condoleezza Rice's nomination for secretary of state, because he said she "misled" the Senate on Iraq.

Dayton, D-Minn., said he knew Rice's confirmation by the Senate was assured. But he said he was casting a "protest vote" against her and others in the Bush administration "who seriously misled the country throughout those months about the facts as they knew them in Iraq."

Thank you, Senator Mark Dayton! :toast:

10. Good for him. It's the least a dem can do.
Dayton voted no on the IWR, but especially all the IWR/yes voters should vote no on Rice. How many of them claim to have been "misled"? This is one of the misleaders!

The *only* possible excuse I can imagine would be that they want to avoid a confirmation war if there's ever a dem pres. -But there won't be at this rate of capitulation.

6. Great news from Sen Dayton.
Perhaps more senators can be persuaded to do the same. I'll be emailing my Illinois senators.

12. Now, remember Dayton is forever evil and tarnished
Because he disagreed with the idea of objecting to the OH certification. Remember, you're either with us, or against us.

(sarcasm)

13. And deserved, too.
I wonder how many caught Dayton's speech on 1/6??

Or know he quit the 911 Commission because NORAD lied??

I like him. He should get DU Love.
