Anti-abortion protests begin in Charlotte

The Associated Press

Anti-abortion group Operation Save America began a week of protests and seminars here Saturday, with its leader urging people with similar beliefs to get out and be heard.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers reported no problems between the 30 to 40 group protesters gathered outside Family Reproductive Health in south Charlotte and a small number of counterprotesters.

"I'm glad that you're here and I pray that the church will rise up and come out and live out her faith in the streets," the Rev. Flip Benham, head of the group, told fellow protesters. "And all of Charlotte can be terrorized at the church coming out the closet."

Police Capt. Earl Mathis said the protests were orderly.

Larger protests were expected this coming week by Operation Save America, which espouses an activist, evangelical Christianity that opposes abortion, homosexuality and non-Christian faiths. The group recently moved from Dallas to suburban Charlotte.

The program will include classes for activists and possible picketing outside mosques. A rally was scheduled for Saturday night.

1. Why do I bother asking...
"and possible picketing outside mosques. "
Why are they picketing outside mosques- what the hell does that have to do with abortion?

6. Ah, cute
:eyes:
Yup, that outta be a REAL successful campaign...
It amuses me that Christians can hate Muslims- they care so damn much about the smallest differences that they don't stop to realize how close the two religions are...
