Small US plane missing near Toronto Island airport
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N07322263.htm

TORONTO, July 7 (Reuters) - A six-passenger twin-engine plane was missing and presumed to have crashed in Lake Ontario near Toronto Island airport on Monday, but foggy conditions prevented search and rescue aircraft from looking for survivors.

Bill Yule, manager of Toronto City Centre Airport, said the control tower lost contact with the pilot as he approached the runway, in Toronto's harbor, just before 10:00 a.m. (1400 GMT).

"A mile and a half south of the eastern channel in Toronto, he lost contact," Yule said. "The fog was probably half a mile in visibility."

It was not known whether there was anyone besides the pilot aboard the plane, a Beech Baron 58 twin-engine.

The plane took off from Lansing Municipal Airport near Chicago earlier on Monday, Yule said.

TV news has since reported finding debris in the lake and locals on the island hearing a loud bang.

5. Different airports, you'll be fine....
Toronto Island airport is for small planes and commuter-type stuff. It's located about half a mile out in Lake Ontario, directly across from the Toronto downtown.

You'll probably be flying into Pearson International, which is located just west of Toronto. Pearson is a regular, big city airport.

Have a good trip. :)
