"A Special Operation Forces convoy north of Bari Kott in Khost province received small-arms fire and two RPGs from an unknown-sized enemy forces yesterday morning," US Colonel Rodney Davis told reporters at Bagram airbase, 50 kilometres north of Kabul. One soldier was slightly injured from bumping his head in a vehicle during the contact in Khost but was treated at the scene, Davis said.
He said Special Operation Forces in a separate incident late on Thursday came under small-arms fire from unknown gunmen in the north-eastern city of Kunduz, but again no one was hurt.
"A patrol was sent out this morning to investigate the area from where the shots were fired," he said, without giving any more details.
