Retailers nervous as Christmas traffic is poor
Shoppers may see price cuts as buying binge fails to materialize

<snip>
Retailers hoped for but apparently did not get a hefty sales surge this past weekend. The merchants were hoping to recoup lost business after a slow start to the holiday shopping season, and now must rely even more heavily on the final days before Christmas and post-holiday sales to meet their forecasts.

1. Hey all you faith based retailers

Your President lied to you about the roaring economy. People don't buy things when they don't have jobs.

I went to Best Buy on Saturday and there was no line at the checkout.

2. What strikes me funny is that most small businesses and large
business (wal-mart, etc.) voting for bush...he is suppose to be good for businesses. Chamber of Commerces were all for bush and now they can pay for it...

4. I shop at the dollar store and Big Lots
for kids toys, candles, and other assorted gifts that don't look cheap. Take off the store sticker, wrap in a fancy box and act like I picked it up in a more expensive place. Why shop anywhere else?

5. All gifts are 2nd hand
I had a great time shopping at our local thrift store and the money goes directly to a shelter for homeless people.

I think my relatives and friends will like their gifts too!

8. biscotti for everyone
rather than buy stuff for all our friends, me and my wife made stuff. Biscotti to be precise. Lots of it!

it turned out to be a huge project but I have not set foot inside of a shopping mall!

Its also nice to make stuff! Although a buddy of mine suggested that next year we make ipods instead! ;)

6. Even Mallwort should be able to figure out
that people without jobs or reasonable pay can't buy even cheap crap from China. The current system has to fail eventually. It will be a very painful fall, hurting the working class most of course.

9. I wonder if on-line shopping is also keeping the crowds down?
I did most of my shopping online this year. In my PJs, after midnight.
