Chief Leaving Army Psychology Support Team
BOSTON -- Warfare was not the only reason soldiers sought counsel from Army Reserve Lt. Col. Bryan Kelly and his medical support team during their deployment to Iraq last year. The wonders of modern technology also took a toll.

E-mail and other high-tech communications help soldiers keep in touch with their families like never before, but they also leave them feeling helpless they can't fix problems at home they would otherwise not know about.

"It's a double-edged sword," said Kelly, who stepped down Sunday as commander of the Army Reserve's 883rd Medical Company, whose mission is to provide psychological support to Army soldiers.
........
Kelly, 50, who was awarded his third Meritorious Service medal Sunday, called his time in Iraq "the most gratifying" of his career.

"Any officer who has the opportunity to be a peacetime commander, really wants to do a wartime command as well," he said.

1. The article doesn't
say why the lite colonel is stepping down or if he is retiring. Why's the Army letting this one go and keeping so many others? Seems he would be a keeper.

3. Weird thing for a doc to say
"Any officer who has the opportunity to be a peacetime commander, really wants to do a wartime command as well," he said

Seems like it would be easy for a doc to imagine the horror too well.

4. yeah, but it's what they're trained for. They want to turn it up a
notch. I don't think they think about what that really means.
