U-S Embassy orders diplomats not to use Baghdad's airport road
http://www.wstm.com/Global/story.asp?S=2638928

~snip~

BAGHDAD, Iraq The U-S Embassy in Iraq is prohibiting its employees from using the dangerous highway that links Baghdad and its international airport.

The British Foreign Office issued a similar order Monday.

The ten-mile stretch of road has been the scene of numerous roadside bombings and suicide attacks on U-S targets.

The embassy is also urging American civilians in Iraq to review their security situations and it's cautioning others to avoid traveling to Iraq unless it's absolutely necessary.

1. It was already confined to armed covoys for the ten mile stretch.
Even employees of the airport commute in armed vehicles.

Now they can't use the highway at all.

2. So US can't even guarantee safe access to the capitol city
of Iraq after billions of dollars spent, after well over a thousand soldiers killed, and tens of thousands of other soldiers greivously wounded, and uncounted thousands of Iraqi men women and children, killed, wounded, and economically destroyed. What military strategery IS bush following here?
