Rumsfeld Is Muted On Weapons Hunt
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A42728-2003Sep8.html

When Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld took time during his five-day trip to Iraq and Afghanistan to highlight the accomplishments of the United States and its allies, he did not include on his list progress in the search for Iraq's suspected arsenal of weapons of mass destruction.

Rumsfeld, who often acted as the Bush administration's pit bull this spring in arguing that such weapons existed and justified going to war, said he had not even asked about the subject during his 30-minute meeting Saturday with David Kay, the CIA representative in Iraq who is coordinating the search for weapons of mass destruction.

"I have so many things to do at the Department of Defense," Rumsfeld said during an interview aboard his plane, which stopped in Ireland to refuel on the way back to Washington. "I made a conscious decision that I didn't need to stay current every 15 minutes on the issue. I literally did not ask. . . . I'm assuming he'll tell me if he'd gotten something we should know."

<snip>

"I . . . have to compartment things, and that is, in my view, something the intelligence community is working on, and working on effectively," Rumsfeld said of the weapons search.

13. It's all our fault
As Rummy pointed out, if you criticize him or the Chimp, it helps the terrierists. I think the psychic energy of us knowing that they are full of shit has put an inpenetrable force field shield on all the WMDs. I truly blame myself. Forgive me please Rummy.

2. These assholes are trying to pretend the WMD....
...fiasco didn't happen. "Maybe if we don't talk about it, it will just go away."

"We've moved on."

"Get over it."

"Revisionist history. We never said WMD!"

3. Darn good intelligence tells us
that there are not now WMD's in Iraq, nor were there any present in the lead-up to the illegal invasion.

15. but every intelligence service in the world believed they were there
before the war. Even France. It was a matter of how to deal with them that divided the UN.

4. The maladministration is saying...
That Chimpy has full confidence in Rummy. I reckon that is a Very Bad Sign for the old coot. I suspect he has been told to STFU and STFD, or he gets thrown overboard.

5. chimpy doesn't throw anybody overboard.
Hasn't anyone noticed this yet??

Chimpy isn't really in control, Rumsfeld has more power than Chimpy, so he ain't going anywhere.

Cunnilingus Rice ain't going anywhere either. To jettison anybody, they realize, would be an admission that they fucked up.

7. questions for Rummy
Edited on Tue Sep-09-03 12:38 AM by frank frankly
what cemetary are you buried in?
how long have you been undead?
have you heard of nuremberg?
do you comb your hair with bacon?

let's look forward two years--
THE SCENE:
Rummy stands alone in his prison cell, giving a press conference to his toothbrush and bar of soap. he pontificates, huffs and puffs, then shouts "i don't have to answer that!", croaks a laugh, storms off, only to bash his head off the bars.

10. Excuse me, by why meet with David Kay...

Excuse me, by why meet with David Kay and then NOT ask about the hunt for WMD? What the hell were they talking about, the weather? It seems to me that that is the ONLY thing David Kay would have to talk about.

Unless they were talking about the plan to PLANT WMD?

12. Good point. Blair was here the day Kelly was killed,
Bremer was here when the Hussein sons were killed, Bremer was here when the UN was bombed. When someone from this administration travels, trouble can't be far behind.

I know Blair isn't part of this administration, but he is Bush's whore.
