Nancy Pelosi on Tom Delay's Outburst This Morning
WASHINGTON, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi
issued the following statement today in reaction to comments made at a Capitol
Hill press conference this morning by Majority Leader Tom DeLay, in which he
denied that he was rebuked by the Ethics Committee and made unsubstantiated
attacks against Pelosi and other Democrats:

"Tom DeLay proved this morning that he is not only unethical, but
delusional.
"No amount of mud slinging can hide the fact that Mr. DeLay has repeatedly
abused his power. Over the years, this has resulted in four rebukes by the
Ethics Committee -- including two rebukes last month that were a direct result
of Congressman Chris Bell's complaint. Mr. DeLay has insisted that these
charges are merely partisan attacks, but the bipartisan Ethics Committee's
unanimous conclusions have put that lie to rest.
"Mr. DeLay's display today and his repeated ethical lapses have brought
dishonor on the House of Representatives."

1. Wow
That's really going to put the fear of god into the repubs. We are turning into a fucking side show at a three ring circus. Stop talking about Delay and start talking about issues like jobs, health care, etc. Most people don't give a rip about this DC insider stuff. Memo to Pelosi -- get a clue!

These evil-hearted assholes project every awful trait they hold. No one can allow them to get away with that crap anymore. Apply the same level of zero-tolerance they spew with each passing day!!!

I am sick of these people. We must take a strong stand against their bullying tactics!!!

27. oh my god, you get a clue
The fact that people don't give a rip about a crook being a Republican House leader is a CLUE. They've been brainwashed not to care. You can damn well bet if it was a Dem they'd care. That's the crux of the problem. They keep lying and people keep pretending it's politics as usual. It's NOT. It's dictatorship.

37. Whaaa?
If we shouldn't give a flip about THIS then we might as well go ahead and "assume the position" so the Repugs can go ahead and buggar the Dems up the derrier all they want.

All this week the Repugs have been re-writing the rules to suit their fancy in an effort to further suppress the minority party and moderate Repugs. If that isn't cause enough for alarm then I don't know what is. If we do not voice our outrage now one can only speculate how far they'll go to completely re-write the rules to their benefit.

THIS HAS BECOME AN ISSUE!

Bill Frist has already said, "I hope you'll see huge changes in how the United States Senate is run. "

After all, it was the high-and-mighty-superior-morals-than-you Repugs that put the 'if you face indictment then you must step down' rule in place.

53. Right now we don't have the power. We barely have press. What we can do
is be as public as possible about every rethug ethical lapse (tho maybe it's not a lapse if you're unethical to start with)... that ought to be a main focus of our strategy, IMO. The 52% just don't seem to fathom how unethical their party is, thinking instead that we're the amoral ones. So let's LET 'EM KNOW. If anthing, let's email Pelosi and give her some support for that backbone.

Check out DUer site redmorals.com for the latest lapse list - and email te host if there are any missing that you know of.

55. Exactly wrong.
All people do care about is the sideshow.

More than anything else, you know what won the Repubs the House of Reps in 1994? The Check Kiting scandal and the ethical lapses of Dan Rostenkowski. It was the Gingrich crews constant attacts on these issues that helped foster a "throw the bums out" mentality.

56. Exactly. And.................get rid of Nancy Pelosi. Her very presence
demeans the Democratic Party. I would wager that just her alone swayed more than a few Democrats to vote for Bush. I'm a Republican who voted for and campaigned for Kerry. One of the strings holding me back was Ms. Pelosi. Just my opinion. Not looking for a fight.

81. If you lived in Texas, you wouldn't be saying that
He made the state pay for redistricting when it wasn't necessary nor called for. Since I am in Texas, I am HIGHLY disturbed at the power grabs that DeLay continually makes and I applaud Bell for bringing it up. He only did this after his newly won district was redistricted, thus making Bell a lame duck just as he was getting started. The DA in Austin had already been investigating DeLay's use of federal agencies to hunt down the dems who had walked out of the redistricting melee and Bell brought it before the ethics committee because it's ILLEGAL to do that in state contests. 3 of DeLay's lackeys have been indicted.

Pelosi's remarks were dead on correct.

One of the first thing the Loyal to the Nation, but opposition Democrats have to do is bring an end to all the lying. Once the nation is regains its sense of reasonable disbelief, we will be headed back in the correct direction.

24. DeLay is playing the republican game of telling lies
close -- but I think the game is "Defend an Imaginary Reality"

here's how it's played:

1. Create an imaginary Reality
2. Accuse everyone else of being against it
5. Divert attention from the real reality
4. Portray yourself as a victim

You win if the real reality ends up as a foot note on a back page, and your imaginary reality is above the fold and everyone feels sorry for you

We must figure how to snap people out of the spell of mass manipulation.

I have noted the "comparative suffering" associated with human existence. I would very much like to use that as a bridge (rather than a divisive and controlling bomb) toward one another.

"The Democrats were reacting to a report issued Wednesday night by the House ethics committee, which unanimously admonished Mr. DeLay after concluding that he had apparently linked legislative action to political donations and had dispatched federal officials to search for Texas legislators who were in hiding to avoid having to vote on a redistricting issue."

66. that is the kind of article, I love to hate.
They start off saying it was a unanimous vote, which he needs to defend against - being a good Texan and all, etc. and go into talking about party politics, discounting it was a bipartisan panel. Not to mention 'persuading' to agree to the crooked drug bill for help - more like threatening plus $. a little more serious than they say.

But Democrats DREAM of retaking the house they haven't had in 20 yrs and would love to block him. Was that what the story was really about or Ethics rebuke to Delay, as the tittle misleads.

As bad as Delay is (and he is), the press can be worse.
I hate reading it anymore.

51. It is time to be brazen about bringing down the "righteous",...
,...who embrace only themselves,...a complete failure of Jesus Christ's visions of embracing all humanity. Good Lord,...these people would be the firtst to crucify Jesus Christ,...as they suck up to "power" rather than GLORY!!!!

59. Yes Jesus commanded we take care of the poor and needy
Wouldn't you rather have our taxes spent on social programs than bombs?

I don't think giving the wealthiest a tax cut while stripping programs to help the needy are exactly Christian.

52. Great!
Now the Dems have to tag-team blast his actions every single day because that's what the other side would do.

73. and it should be a ferocious daily pounding.
Heck, you don't have to be a Democrat to realize that DeLay represents a level of sleazy not seen since the Harding Administration. Consider this, a federal elected official conspires with his cronies back home to redistrict his state in such a way as to guarantee his party's domination for years to come. DeLay's strange views about religion, and his Divinely ordained life, makes DeLay the American version of Mullah Omar.

I don't doubt that DeLay has set his sights on 2008.

is what our gov should adhere to. Religion, God, and Governments never did mix to well, just reflect on the worlds' history.:hippie: IMHO.
