Powell States Preference for Diplomacy (too late now)
WASHINGTON - In a candid interview with his time in office running out, Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites) is acknowledging differences with others in the Bush administration and suggesting that the disputes centered on his preference for diplomacy over force to resolve problems.

But Powell steadfastly resisted being designated a dove by a Chilean television interviewer. "I never liked these titles," he said.

But the secretary then went on to describe his long-held inclination, through several administrations, "of analyzing situations carefully to see if military force is appropriate."

"If it is appropriate, we should force," Powell said in the interview he gave to Chile's TVN on Thursday in Santiago during an economic conference of Pacific nations.

"But if we can avoid the use of military force with diplomacy, through a political action, that is what we should try to do, and that is what President Bush (news - web sites) tried to do," Powell said.

3. That is simply not true, Bush wanted the war like a crazy man.

He wanted to get into it for glory and fame, he is a very sick person, Mr. Bush should be put away somewhere so that the rest of us in this country are safe from him and his power hungry attempts for our admiration.

8. When did Bush try dipolmacy through political action?
Does this administration think if they repeat this line enough it makes it true. I can't believe Colin Powell made that statement.
Does anyone know how much actual combat Powell was involved in during his military career?

11. Powell and My Lai
Powell said the soldier's charges were false except for
"isolated instances." He wrote that "relations between
American soldiers and the Vietnamese are
excellent."

Lewinskied his way up in the armed forces.

He stands for the principle that a sharp male prostitute may rise to the top dog in the brothel.

"We are hard at work bringing all the
information together--intelligence information, law
enforcement information—and I think in the near future we'll
be able to put out a paper, a document, that will describe
quite clearly the evidence that we have linking him to this
attack," said Secretary of State Colin L. Powell. Los
Angeles Times, 24.9.2001.

And the Man Powell will never be:

What would Martin Luther King have said about the attack
on Fallujah ? When the US military try to motivate troops
with images of past 'victories' in Vietnam this speech needs
to be remembered. When certain Americans talk about their
faith in God and the special role of their nation in
spreading democracy, this speech holds them to
account.

10. It's exactly like the "compassion" crap.
"I'm blowing your brain out, but I really wish there was another way because I really feel for you". This is pure cowardice.

12. I can't understand: why is Bowel in the news?
There's another thread that says that Powell is visiting with some foreign leader (sorry, I forgot which one).

He's making statements left and right. He's appearing on TV constantly.

He's done. Finished. Pull him off the stage with one of those loopy things, to pull the Prima Donna off once and for all.

13. Glad Powell is leaving
His legacy is now sealed for his miserable performance with "the vials" before the U.N. and not his performance as Chairman JCOS during Gulf I.

There's a fine line between loyalty to a president and loyalty to your country. Powell crossed it, he knows it. We can all read about it in his next book.

The real question is, how can the Dems get him to switch teams? THAT would be a coup!

His son Michael is the result of a wardrobe malfunction.

20. Here is what his lies have wrought.
http://mindprod.com/iraq.html

Sitting in front of the UN, and the world, lying his ass off has caused the deaths of well over 100k people.

Mostly women and children.

I look at those pictures everyday, so I can remember what I am fighting for.

I sincerly hope there is a god and a hell so these mass murdering SOBs can spend eternity looking at the faces of those they slaughtered in the name of an American empire.

Of course they would probably consider that a good time...

21. Too bad he abandoned his integrity when accepted a position
in the fraudulent Bush administration to begin with. Then to top it off, he obviously had to hand over his cojones to Karl Rove and the neocons that took over this country for the past 4 years. Nice to know you've got them back Colin. A little too late though, don't you think?

gentler maching gun hand. Thousand points of hypocracy.
