Madison — More workers are being sent out to address long lines at some polls in the city of Kenosha, where one of two Senate recall elections is being held Tuesday.

Meanwhile, strong turnouts were being reported in northern Wisconsin, site of the other election.

"We’re hearing about long lines in Kenosha, which the clerk is addressing by sending more workers and splitting poll books. There have also been some complaints about electioneering with signs and bumper stickers on cars near the polling place. Local authorities are handling those as well," said Reid Magney, spokesman for the state Government Accountability Board.

City of Kenosha clerk Mike Higgins confirmed that he had sent more workers to a few polling places and that the lines were now much shorter.

Dick Ginkowski, a prosecutor who handles election issues for the Kenosha County district attorney's office, confirmed he had received complaints Tuesday about bumper stickers and other signs and said in some cases law authorities were asking people to move the signs and cars away from polling places.
