15. It depends on the state and the insurance policy
In many cases, life insurance is not paid to survivors if it was suicide. In other cases, it is paid if the policy was held for at least a certain length of time. It is almost never paid if a very short period time has passed since the policy was taken out or if it can be proven that the suicidal person took out the policy with that intention.
