A poster was making a huge case yesterday about the media being compeltely sensationalistic about the lead up to Hurriacne Irene. He said that the hyperbole was overwhelming and that because it only ended up a Cat 1 hurricane it should be receiving so much media attention.
My argument was that the huge dense populated areas it was impacting and the flood/surge problem certainly made it worthwhile if it helped people to stay in and stay alert.
These pictures, I think, prove why the media is justified in alerting millions of people.
