13. Very thoughtful and moving.
I'm coming to believe the only reason Obama now publicly opposes full equality of LGBT people (e.g., same-sex marriage) even though he supported it as Senator, is because he's mindful of the polls. As public sentiment changes for the better, even over the next few years, if he gets a second term, hopefully he'll come back around and sign a law legalizing same-sex marriage, should a more liberal Congress get elected in 2012 or 2014 and present a bill for him.

Obama clearly cares about LGBT people and supports them as much as he can get away with in this challenging climate today.
