18. This is a moral issue that doesn't neccessarily fall along
conservative/liberal lines because alot of pro-business conservatives are for immigration and alot of pro-social safety net liberals think that we should take care of our own people first. Obama taking on the issue might add latinoes to his coalition but it might just lose working class whites who'll see this as bringing in more workers to compete with them while they're still hurting in the economy. The sad thing is that this is one of the few opportunities he has to do anything on this issue. Plus don't ask don't tell is still on the table along with this climate change bill. If only he'd finished health care sooner.
