1. you know, it's like giving a smoker trying to quit another pack of cigarettes.
i mean, really. I would like to see these people imagine bush with his saudi buddy... BEGGING him to not cut oil production. BEGGING!! that is what that man did. when they complain about obama 'bowing' or whatever... but never mention bush BEGGING the saudis to keep producing more oil. how would drilling oil prevent this on our knees relationship with oil?? it won't.

the only thing that we as americans can do to stop our dependence on other countries to keep us from paying $4 or more for gas is to find an alternative energy source that will compete with oil. If we can develop a viable, cost effective alternative, we put THEM on their knees instead. I personally believe making oil unnecessary would devalue oil, thus keeping money out of the hands of the terrorists we keep talking about having to be afraid of. where do we all think they are getting their money?? how many of the hijackers were from saudi arabia??

I think national security is the best argument to make to convince many republicans of the importance of getting away from oil. They may not care about the environment, but the idea of gaining our independence AND hurting the terrorists in the wallet might be enough.
