who could win a statewide ballot in that state.

Bart Peterson's run was ended, or in any case badly waylaid, and outside of Marion County, his support was iffy-to-none. After being ousted from office by voters, I'd say it is closer to 'none' than 'iffy.'

Joe Hogsett is and would be wonderful, but the loathsome maggot Dan Coats destroyed him in their Senate race.

The mayor of Lafayette is, well, local.

There are more Democrats in the Indiana Congressional delegation now than in the past, but none of them has much of a statewide presence at the level Lee Hamilton had say a decade or two ago.

Jill Long Thompson is the closest Democrat in Indiana, IMO, to a statewide presence, and Daniels whomped her in his re-election bid.
