There was a lot of confusion, and it seems like the olympics are the only event that doesn't award both athletes the gold. It was kind of an obscure rule. The coaches got it right though, as did her father. They said that the tie breaker rules were applied correctly and there was no basis for a protest, and therefore refused to protest. I respect that. I don't think they should have. I did think it was interesting that her father had tied for a gold and both athletes got a gold medal in the past.

I've been watching gymnastics for years too and I'll be the first to admit that I don't know enough to know if the scores were fair or not. So my thing is that I don't care what country the athletes were from, they both did good routines with a lot of difficulty and they tied. They both should have gotten the gold.
