..they are like a two faced sword. On the one hand we need them to enforce the laws (which hopefully are just laws which many are not) and solve crimes by detective work.
On the other hand most large police departments are basically a brotherhood that covers up for the bad apples of which there are many these days, who have no problems with treating the public like cattle, as happen to your family.
