It should be pointed out to folks talking about "Al Gore's Oscar".....

...he was NOT nominated for the award. The documentary ABOUT Gore was nominated, and thus the Oscar would go to the director of the Inconvenient Truth, Davis Guggenheim.

So, for all of you hoping that Gore will announce his 2008 run for president from the dais at the Academy Awards, I guarantee it ain't gonna happen. For one thing, it would be a selfish, spotlight-grabbing thing to do to the person who actually WON the award. And that just isn't Gore's style.

Secondly, the Oscars is the worst possible place to announce you're running for president. Do you really want the biggest announcement of your political life sandwiched in between the montage entitled "A Salute to the Silents" and Cher's show-stopping performance of the title song from "Little Miss Sunshine"? Complete with gyrating dancers in yellow spandex?

Frankly, I kind of doubt he'll even attend the ceremony. For all of you awaiting the Second Coming of Al that night, It ain't going to happen--at least, not at the Oscars.
