32. You misunderstand me - I don't classify the Saudi rulers as a benign force

any more than the neo-cons or any other group hostile to the interests of the working class. The difference is you're thinking along nationalistic lines and I'm thinking along class lines. The domination of the airwaves and other forms of media by organized capital has ALREADY proved to be a disaster for us. Pursuing your argument, you're perfectly ok with the control of large sections of the US media by someone like Rupert Murdoch (because he's an American). The likes of Mr. Murdoch are arguably as culpable as any Sheiks in our spiraling descent to fascism.

You're worried about the perceived "change of editorial line" since the Saudis bought a stake. Gawd! You're at best seeing a *very* small part of the train-wreck that is organized capitalism.

Rupert Murdoch (or Eisner or any other media boss's) interests coincide about as much (as little, really) with those of a working class American as a Saudi Sheik . That is the crux of my idea.

You believe *one* group of owners of capital / bosses are somehow better than others because they're American. I disagree - I perceive nationalistic thinking (worldwide) as a major enemy to global working class unity and solidarity. As long as the working class is divided along ethnic / racial / religious / nationalistic lines, the bosses win.

Edited to add: Of course, I'm all for total control of the airwaves by working people rather than kings, sheiks, neocons or corporatists of any stripe.

:)
