of the war and his service, so I don't think this will make her wise up in that sense. Still, much as I despise the mother, I think it much more appropriate to ridicule those who beat the drums of war but keep their kids out of harms way, like just about every other hawk out there does.

I don't know how many times I've heard young right-wingers complaining about unpatriotic anti-war protestors and thought: "why haven't you signed up?" Here's someone who has. I hope you're right and that it softens up his (and then her) perspective.
