For one thing, the guy's always broke and needs the preachers, priests, rabbis, mullahs, etc to raise money for Him. And, for such an alleged smart guy, what's He doing fooling around with a spectacularly inept species inhabiting a minor planet, circling an insignificant sun, on the outskirts of a ordinary galaxy, among billions of other galaxies in a universe that could be one of trillions of other universes?

Humans invented God to keep the imaginary bogeymen at bay. And, as humans do, they did a pretty bad job of it.
