I am glad that this "John Doe" amendment was dropped from the Fatherland Security Bill

The amendment would have basically applied "whistleblower" protection to people who reported 'suspicious behavior', protecting them from lawsuits. This amendment was proposed by a couple of rethugs after a group of Muslim imams filed a federal civil rights suit after being removed from a US Airways flight, based on the objections of a few passengers. Basically, it would have given Americans a green light to harass Muslims at will, without fear of repercussion. All you would have had to do was claim that you thought you saw something 'suspicious'.

Glad to see our leadership standing up to the rethugs.
