My father became a raging racist the year before he died.

Small strokes wreaked havoc in his mind.

Of course Helen Thomas has Arab sympathies. She's Lebanese.

I am considered rabidly pro-Israel around here. And I have adored Helen Thomas for many years. I don't expect her to agree with me on this. We come from different perspectives.

But what she said makes me fear for her health. There have been many clashes between the Palestinians and Israelis. But only now does Helen say anything like this? Only now?

We have so much to be grateful to Helen Thomas for. Her outspoken courage has been a vital voice for the American people for decades.

THIS CHANGES NOTHING. Except for the terrible fact that Helen is no longer able to do the brilliant job she always has.

I still love her. I will miss her terribly. And if any hold this late-expressed opinion against her, you are the ones I will despise.
