48. Uh' no he didn't.
What he did do was let the publishers set their own prices. Amazon set a pay one price system, and forced the publishers to comply. He may have gotten a guaranteed price match vs. the other retailers, but that's not any different than any other retailer out there with any other product.

My friend feels cheated on the Kindle prices for paperbacks and pocket books. She can buy a paperback for $6-7 and the Kindle version is still $9.99. She doesn't like that. She also refuses to buy any McMillan book until they have a more reasonable price. She loves her Kindle, BTW.
