He was pro-Drug War, pro-marijuana prohibition, and now has suddenly changed his mind just in time to run Libertarian. He authored and sponsored the Defense of Marriage Act. He voted for the War in Iraq. He proposed a ban on the practice of Wicca in the military. He is pro-flat tax.
A liberal would have to be a total idiot to vote for him.
