Thursday March 1 2007

Bush returned to the ravaged regoins of the gulf coast for his semi-annual pep talk to the depressed, displaced citizens today as fresh storms ripped through the area. Actjually stopping on the ground and getting off Air Force One, he offered no apologies for ignoring the Katrina victims in his State of the Union speech, instead blamed the intensity of the storm for the incredible lack of federal assistance to the devastated area.

“Staying busy?” he asked a construction crew in a southern Mississippi neighborhood. According to the AP, one of the workers told him the crew was still working on the same block of the neighborhood – one-and-a-half years after the storm.

Too bad there's no oil in the ground, or diamonds in the ruins. Then Bush would send swarms of national guard troops. Maybe if "that part of the world" seceeded from the Union and started enriching uranium, maybe then he'd focus some resources and tax dollars on reconstruction. Maybe.

Or perhaps the homeless victims could apply for direct foregin aid from, say, Canda or Venezuala.

Maybe that would wake up this administration to the continued suffering of people in THIS country.

Until then, let them eat war.
