I've never met him in person, but have been in on teleconferences with him. He really is on top of his game!

Also, it looks like there may be some future link-up between PDA and DFA. The two organizations share similar goals, but I don't know if it's the right kind of matchup.

I've heard Dean say that DFA would possibly support certain moderate Republicans, if they meet their criteria. As a Democrat I don't think I could do that. Also, DFA seems to me like a very top-down organization-- except when it comes to fundraising-- much like the Dean campaign was. PDA, OTOH, is totally grassroots from the ground up, and came about as a way to unite the disparate state progressive caucuses that emerged after the primaries.

Nothing against Dean, of course, I'm glad he's doing what he can do to help us all out. I just have worries about a solid grassroots organization getting co-opted and the message getting diluted.

All said, 2006 will be a VERY good year for progressives-- especially if they stand up to the radical right and run as progressive Democrats!
