[Arkansas Granny]

I'm not even sure where it first came from, but it makes a great brownie.

SAUCEPAN BROWNIES

1 cup butter or margarine (two sticks)
¾ cup cocoa
2-1/4 cups sugar
1 tsp vanilla
½ tsp salt
3 eggs
1-1/4 cups flour
½ tsp baking powder
1 cup nuts (optional)

Melt butter/margarine in saucepan – add cocoa and stir till smooth
Remove from heat and cool slightly
Add sugar, vanilla, salt and eggs – blend well
Add flour and baking powder – blend well
Add nuts (optional)

Spread into 13 x 9 pan and bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out almost clean.
