a new poem- "The Snowstorm"
Advertisements [?]
It hasn't been edited. It's an attempt to be a bit more cheery then my more somber city-scape poems...it's from the weekend that the huge blizzard struck Boston and my boyfriend stayed with me for the weekend. There was just such an oddly quiet mood when we woke up Sunday morning....which I tried to capture. My boyfriend is like many of us on DU- sensitive, emotionally, to the great injustice in this world...and sometimes I just don't know what to do. He's just so...brilliant...and I can't stand to see him be hurt by this world....

"The Snowstorm"

These nights are cold and bare.
Your form, covered in blankets,
stirred when a shriek of wind
threw itself against the window.
Even the city lights outside are masked,
blurred and splintered
by the wind and ice
of the storm.
Your eyes opened, grey as the ashen sky,
and pierced me.
My dear, this world will destroy you.
I can see it
in the green flecks of your eyes,
a fear of that world
outside the window.
I understand, my dear
why.
Do not fear:
lie with me, embrace me.
Let me cover you.
Smell my flesh
and sleep.
