7. I believe the key to Missouri

Is energizing the African American vote in Kansas City and St.

Louis. I don't know about the rest of rural Missouri but here in the

southwest we will gain a percent or two over Gore's results in 2000.

Having the gay marriage and gambling issues on the ballot in August

was a big break. The churches went all out to turn out their

congregations and will have a hard time driving them back in November.

I had hoped that The Big Dog would be able to speak for Kerry in the

churches but that doesn't look possible now. If someone from the

Kerry campaign is reading this please get Obama to appear with Kerry

in St. Louis. That would do a lot toward firing up the base.

Clay in St. Louis and Cleaver in K.C. should talk about how w is

planning to try to intimidate black voters in Missouri and to remind

them how hard they had to struggle to get the vote.

Senator bond blocked President Clinton's appointment of a very well

qualified African American lawyer to a federal Judgeship. This would be an

important point to remind voters that republicans can never be

trusted to vote for issues that are important to the minority

community.
