82. agree and disagree
i agreee with you, will- this was always gonna be a scumbucket slimefest, advantage going to the thugs because they have the most experience with that kind of campaign- hell, they've made it a lifestyle choice.

as for panicking with the slightest quiver in the polls, my thinking is this. intuitively, i know that they are much farther apart than the polls show (advantage, Kerry). but i also made my mind up about who i was gonna vote for when i was ten years old. There is a perceptual game afoot, and whether we respect that or not, we have to acknowledge that and be prepared to repsond strategically to it.

not every car coming down the highway is gonna hit me, but it pays to figure out how to minimize getting hit and what to do if i find karl rove behind the wheel and swerving towards me.

you don't have to live in a toilet to know how to flush one.

as one who has just started posting, and has been a little more cautious in expressing euphoria over the likelihood that bush will be out of politics in january, i don't consider that panic.

i have great admirtation for your work and words, and feel a great sense of hope reading all the other posts here.
