where Nader's percentage of the vote exceeded either Bush or
Gore's margin of victory:

State          Nader %         Margin of Victory
Florida        1.63%           0.01%*
New Mexico     3.55%           0.06%
Wisconsin      3.62%           0.22%
Iowa           2.23%           0.31%
Oregon         5.04%           0.44%
New Hampshire  3.9%            1.27%
Minnesota      5.2%            2.4%
Maine          5.7%            5.12%

It could be argued, therefore, that it was "safe" to
vote for Nader in 42 states... well, 39 (Nader wasn't on the
ballot in three states).

* = Well, I think you all know why there's an asterisk there.
