My 500th Post---- Dennis Kucinich is the man!!!

I did not come to DU until February of 2003. I was furstrated by the results of the 2002 elections and deeply saddened by the death of my political idol Paul Wellstone. I was very fortunate to find a forum where I can express my opinions and, more importantly, view the opinions of others. I knew that I was not alone in my feelings that the Democratic Party was mired in centrist-led mediocrity. I want a Democratic Party that stands for something other than watered-down versions of Republican ideas.

That is why I unabshedly support Dennis Kucinich for President. His running is not so much about being president (although he would make an EXCELLENT president), it's about the soul of the Democratic Party. With people like DK (and Howard Dean; Russ Feingold; Tom Harkin; Jesse Jackson, sr & jr; and a host of others too numerous to mention) involved in the party, I ACTUALLY HAVE HOPE. A strong Democratic Party that actually STANDS for something can re-take Congress and the White House. We have the opportunity for bold, visionary leadership. We can reject the same old crap that is crammed down our throats by the media, the DLC, the pollsters, the consultants, the insiders, and the conventional wisdom at large. We can VOTE FOR OUR HOPES & DREAMS AND NOT OUR FEARS!!!

I know DK is unlikely to get the nomination, but I hope that the progressive wing of the party will not be marginalized and ignored. I hope the eventual nominee will treat the progressives with respect and openess as a partner in a coalition and not as a group to be taken for granted and given marching orders every four years.

I want to thank everyone that I have discussed issues with over the past year here. I think the dialogue between differing opinions is important. Even if we don't always agree, please remember to not take things personally (just recently I sarcastically referred to someone as a "crackhead", that was a joke).

More importantly, remember what unites us more than what divides us.
LET'S KICK BUSH'S ASS IN NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
