Heinz Kerry accepts husband's endorsement by environmental group

LOS ANGELES --
Saying environmentalists are "at least offended if not mad as hell" at the Bush administration, Teresa Heinz Kerry accepted an endorsement of her husband Thursday by the California League of Conservation Voters.

She also said energy conservation is necessary because "no American, boy or girl, should have to go to war and lose their lives because of our gluttonous need for oil."

If John Kerry is elected president, he would work with the private sector to implement environmentally friendly business practices, Heinz Kerry said during an appearance at the Audubon Society building at Debs Park.

"John and I believe that we have to have corporate America at the table and being a part of providing answers to a lot of these problems," she said. "They can make changes so much faster."
