Could the Dem nominee choose Gore as VP?

I was reading the Constitution today, as I'm sure many people were in the wake of Dubya's Defense of Discrimination Amendment proposal. Looking specifically at amendments, I read the 22nd Amendment which limits the President to two terms. However, it does not limit the Vice-President. While the wisdom of choosing Gore for a third term may be debatable, I was wondering if the choice is Constitutionally permissible.
