As VP. See the thing about CHeney is that he does not really buy Bush all that much electorally. The GOP might consider that if Bush/Cheney winn another sqeaker... there really is no easy way for a Standard Bearer to emergre in 2008 becaues CHeney certainly is not going to run. Whereas swapping his VP choice for some one who could dleiver a key state is important and becomes the heir apparent win or lose.

A Kerry-CLeland ticket might force a reassesment of the electoral math.
