2. Here's the basics...
NH...wherever the ballots were counted by hand, the race was incredibly tight, so tight as it wouldn't have been able to be called. However, wherever they used the machines to count, Kerry was way ahead. Now, NH isn't that big of a state, and as someone who lives in Vermont and works in NH, I find it very suspicious that there was such a huge discrepency like this. I'm not into all the conspiracy theory things, either. With Washington, all of the votes still aren't in and I believe there was some reports of the wrong numbers being reported that ended up favoring Kerry. Now Maine, that's a real suspicious mess. I spent Sunday evening scouring the internet forums, groups, blogs and whatnot. I was hearing a lot of first hand reports from caucuses by actual caucus goers. All but a couple of the reports I saw said that either Dean beat Kerry at their caucus or it was a virtual tie between them, with Dean winning Portland big. (Portland is the biggest city in maine). The state has reported that over 20,000 people voted in the caucus, yet the last I saw they were still stalled at 80% sites reporting. The number of voters who were counted were under 15,000. There were over 5000 votes still unaccounted for with Kerry at 4843 votes and Dean at 2774. On top of that, I saw a post about one of the results reporting temporarily showing Dean over 4500 votes with Kerry at 4843, and then a few minutes later he dropped back down to 2774. Something definitely smells very bad in Maine. Hopefully it will be revealed in our lifetimes.
