Well, does California matter?

DUers in Cali please check in. This isn't about the nominee :-), but how should we choose a nominee in the future? Political campaigns are absurdly expensive here. So our vote barely matters but the fundraisers matter. The small states like Iowa and NH have much more influence than we do. I'm annoyed that 50,000 folks decide who is electable. Californians please check in. What do you think?

I'm also interested in residents of other large states.
