taking a decade old quote out of context to present it as if it was a policy statement or current position.

Dean was asked about what would need to be done if a balanced budget amendment passed in 95. His answer included listing things which would need to be cut in that HYPOTHETICAL circumstance.

Yet these folks would try and convince others that Dean's was giving a policy speech or stating his intentions to gut social programs.

They have to dig for 10 years to find something to attack with, and even then they have to cut it out of context and misrepresent it.
